    Abstract

Self-renewing populations of macrophages can be generated by in vitro from a number of sources in the mouse. Their generation is not directly related to the presence of multipotential stem cells. Such culture methods as have been described could be applied to non-mammalian systems to investigate the generation and functional capacities of macrophages from other areas in the evolutionary tree,. © 1981.
