Abstract
Oscillatory flows around a headland of conical form have been investigated experimentally in the UKCRF. The structure of the eddy shedding is shown to be dependent on the Keulegan-Carpenter number and is shown to be rather complex at higher values, e.g. 15, with prominent vortex pairing. Comparisons are made with a numerical model of the depth-averaged shallow-water equations.
