Abstract

Oral anticoagulant therapy is often considered contra-indicated in patients on dialysis programmes because of the perceived high risk of haemorrhage. The recent study by Vázquez et al. suggests that this practice should be carefully reassessed, on an individual patient basis, in view of the potential benefits of anticoagulant therapy.
