Abstract
Introduction: Following the OEO2 and MAGIC trials in the UK, the mainstay of curative treatment for patients with oesophageal and gastric cancers remains a combination of chemotherapy and surgery. Whilst chemotherapy offers a significant survival advantage compared to surgery alone, several studies have demonstrated an adverse effect on patient physical fitness which could be detrimental to the patient surgical outcome. This study aimed to identify if there is a relationship between neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and immediate post-operative complications.
