Abstract

This paper explores how the ecosystem concept supports investigation of creative microenterprises, their production systems, and value creation when conceptualised in this locus and network manner. It is proposed that by positioning the small producers of the creative sector within the entrepreneurial ecosystem the potential to reflect and understand the full breadth, depth and dynamics of value creation in the creative and related cultural system is realised. Arguably, it is only when policy truly recognises and understands this wider context that the full economic and social value of the sector and its dynamic microenterprises will be realised and supported.
