    Abstract

Transformer oil test data are commonly used to monitor transformer health. By comparing test data with IEC 60422 recommended values, transformer oil condition in terms of good, fair and poor can be interpreted. This paper demonstrates the importance of sampling temperature in interpreting moisture and breakdown voltage results. A potential issue with IEC 60422 is also shown by the mismatch in condition interpreted based on dielectric dissipation factor and resistivity. Also, possible combination of interfacial tension and acidity is suggested in representing transformer ageing.
