Abstract

Prolonging the gastric retention of dosage forms can provide therapeutic benefits such as local treatment and enhanced bioavailability. This article describes some of the ways to achieve gastric retention, including the authors' work on dosage forms designed to float on the contents of the stomach and prevent premature emptying.
