Abstract

Studies of a novel EBPVD PYSZ coating process are described. This uses electron bombardment to pre-heat the substrate and to modify the coating structure. The films produced are dense and well adhered, and possess good cohesive strength and toughness. Hot corrosion tests also show the films to offer better protection to substrate attack than coatings produced by conventional EBPVD or plasma assisted PVD methods.
