    Abstract

Novel cationic hydrogels were synthesized by γ-irradiation copolymerization of [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride with N-isopropylacrylamide in the presence of cross-linking agent. The synthesis regularities have been studied. The swelling behavior of hydrogels as a function of copolymers composition and temperature was evaluated. © 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
