Abstract

The report commissioned by Unilever and authored by academics at Liverpool University, was overseen by an independent panel organised by The Royal African Society. The findings uncover the history of Lever Brothers’ coconut and palm oil plantations in the Solomon Islands and the Belgian Congo in the early twentieth century. This research helps to better understand Unilever’s historic connections to and the legacies of the plantations.
