Abstract
This report presents the findings of two research studies commissioned by Health Education England (HEE), now NHS England, to understand:
• What motivates people to choose a career as a pharmacy technician? This aims to understand the motivations and behaviours of people choosing a career as a pharmacy technician (as opposed to those who choose an alternative career in health).
• What factors contribute to pharmacy technician attrition from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) register? This aims to understand the factors that contribute to pharmacy technicians leaving, or intending to leave, pharmacy practice.
Insights from these two research studies can inform future strategies and activities to promote the recruitment and retention of pharmacy technicians in the wider healthcare system and support the delivery of NHSE's 5-year Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Support Staff Workforce
