    Abstract

This chapter is about the collaborative working of the Carlisle People First Research Team. There are currently eight of us and we act as a co-operative. We have been working together on research since 1998 although some of us had worked together in developing advocacy since 1990. We are a mixture of people; experts by experience who are labelled with learning difficulties, academic researchers and advocacy workers. However, these divisions are superficial; what matters is that we are all really interested in research and have chosen to be in the group.
