Abstract
Resonance photoemission measurements of the high-Tc superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 at the Cu 3p absorption edge are reported. The resonance behaviour of valence states lying between 10 and 14 eV binding energy is similar to that observed from CuO, confirming their d8 character. A resonance of the valence band states is also observed, although neither an enhancement nor a resonance is observed in Fermi level states. The latter effect is consistent with these final states having little d8 character. © 1992.
