Abstract
An app. for the detd. of a chem. or biochem. substance, comprises a resonant optical biosensor disposed in a light path between a source of polychromatic collimated light and a detector adapted to monitor some characteristic of the light. The detector includes a wavelength-dispersive element. The source of polychromatic light is preferably a point light source, e.g. a semiconductor light source such as a light-emitting diode, and the wavelength-dispersive element may be a grating or a holog. lens.
