    Abstract

Accuracy checking technicians (ACTs) follow standardoperating procedures (SOP) to check the accuracy of dispensedprescriptions, clinically checked by a pharmacist.[1]Staffdirected by the Code of Ethics are professionally accountablefor their own working practises and work performed under theirsupervision.[2]Currently, there is no requirement for ACTs tobe registered technicians, thus are not accountable to the Codeof Ethics. This study explores pharmacists’ views on where theresponsibility for dispensing process errors lies.
