Abstract
This paper presents new optimal strategies for the scheduling of sequential multipurpose batch plants under several unexpected events. The events include product release dates, rescheduling upon arrival of a new order, and the minimization of total earliness. To find the optimal solutions in complex situations, scheduling problem is formulated to an MILP model. A typical example is used to show that with the proposed strategies, the schedule of sequential multipurpose batch plants is more flexible in the varying market circumstances. © 2010 IEEE.
