Abstract
Undoubtedly, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can a vehicle for liberating humanity from poverty, securing a healthy planet, and building a peaceful and inclusive society. However, this chapter argues that successful implementation of SDGs must be a collaborative effort across all sectors of the economy and across all academic disciplines and professions. Therefore, as a multidisciplinary social science discipline, HRM professionals can play several roles in the effective implementation of SDGs in Africa. We contend that the structural, resource, management and, behavioural constraints militating against SDGs implementation in Africa can be mitigated if HRM and its professionals are effectively incorporated and engaged in helping to address the challenges. The chapter provides examples of challenges to the implementation of SDGs in Africa and the roles HRM can play in addressing the challenges.
