Abstract

Entrepreneurs in Africa face more challenges than their counterparts in other parts of the world. This is partly because the developmental challenges on the continent are more severe than most parts of the world. These challenges are starker for female entrepreneurs for obvious reason. This paper highlights some of the challenges and draws on the contribution a female entrepreneur in Ghana has made within cultural and economic context. The paper highlights how rational economic decisions operates side by side with “non-rational” decisions that are underpinned by cultural and “personal moral” values.
