Abstract
Economists and policy researchers associated with the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion at the London School of Economics explore the meaning of social exclusion, quantify its extent, analyze some its causes and relationships between them, examine the policy and practice of attempts to tackle it, and ponder whether current research directions are in fact helping at all.
