Abstract
Technological advances have enabled a number of different approaches to studying British women’s suffrage. This chapter discusses the use of social network analysis (SNA) in suffrage research. SNA looks at the connections that are formed between people situated within a broader network – in this case the suffrage movement – to move beyond approaches focused on the individual or on single organisations. Through highlighting the extent of an individual’s networks, SNA can move other actors out of the shadows and broaden the historian’s focus.
