    Abstract

The model of shear banding was studied in which the flow induced phase is destabilized by coupling between flow and microstructure. A variety of spatiotemporal oscillatory and rheochaotic flows were found, similar to shear banding systems. It was found that, at weak instability and low shear, the induced phase pulsates next to one wall of the flow cell. Whereas for stonger instability, shear pulses ricochet across the cell.
