    Abstract

In the field of CAD colour is a device dependent parameter and as a colour communication tool, on-screen colour is at best an approximate rendering of any given colour identity. By contrast CIE colorimetry and CIE XYZ Tristimulus co-ordinates define colour identity precisely but provide no visualization of the colour. This paper proposes that sets of CIE co-ordinates should be used much more widely and as often as possible when colour is a significant part of any given interpersonal and business to business communication process.
