    Abstract

The reaction of two mole equivalents of (Me2N)3P with Ph2Se2I2 produces the ionic compound [(Me 2N)3PSePh]I which contains a long Se-I contact, 3.825(1) Å, and a bent P-Se-I angle, 114.5(2)°.
