Abstract

α-(Phenylthio)acetamides are fluorinated in the α-position when treated with 4-(difluoroiodo)toluene (DFIT) in a fluoro-Pummerer reaction. For N-phenylamides, an intramol. Friedel-Crafts reaction may compete and produce heterocycles. [on SciFinder(R)]
