Surface, interface and bulk studies of NiFe nanometer films for magnetoresistive heads

    Abstract

    Surface and interface magnetic phenomena in a NiFe film was separated out. It was observed that at the film thicknesses often employed in read heads, the interface region can greatly affect the properties of the entire film. The data obtained were used to interpret the overall magnetization behavior of the films.
