Synergies, Risks and the Regulation of Stock Exchange Interconnection

Abstract

In this article, the author considers the rationale, the methods, risk
and the currently legal and regulatory framework for stock exchange
interconnections. Firstly, he outlines the methods and models of interconnections
and identifies the rationale behind some interconnected models and obstacles
to cross-border interconnections. Secondly, he discusses the synergies that
interconnections can bring. Thirdly, he considers some of the risks
for interconnections in terms of market stability and market safety. Fourthly,
he discusses how law and regulation, using EU law as an example, can facilitate
interconnections. Finally, he provides some outlook on the stock exchange
interconnections.
