Abstract
(4R*,5S*)-5-Acetylamino-4-diethylcarbamoyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-pyran- 2-carboxylic acid has been synthesised from methyl (E)-4-diethylcarbamoyl-2-oxobut-3-enoate and 2-nitroethanol; the acid is a moderately active inhibitor of influenza A sialidase. © 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
