    Abstract

This paper presents methods to produce tailored light fields in the focal region of ultrashort-pulse lasers. As a proof of concept, various vector field landscapes are generated such as radial polarization, optical vortices, Bessel beams or tailored Fresnel wavefronts and used for laser material processing. An example application is demonstrated where the dynamic control of tailored light fields enables producing highly localized graphite electrodes in diamond for producing high energy particle calibration devices. These types of devices may have applications in radiotherapy.
