Abstract
I present the challenges I faced as an educational professional when I embarked on critical research for my doctoral study. I was compelled to think about the interplay between researcher identity and educational professional identity and how I navigated these through acceptance, repositioning, and resistance In so doing my professional knowing and objectivity shifted over time as my criticality as a researcher emerged.
