Research output: Other contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The article highlights the dire state of maternal healthcare in Kerala, India, within the context of the state's acclaimed development model. Despite promises, public health expenditure remains insufficient, leading to understaffed and under-financed hospitals. Obstetric violence is prevalent, exacerbating high maternal mortality rates. The article emphasises the pressing need for reformed maternity wards, gender sensitisation, and strict protocol enforcement to address systemic deficiencies. Urgent reforms are essential to protect women's rights, ensure equitable healthcare access, and fulfil societal obligations to maternal well-being and national prosperity.
