Abstract
This paper extends previous enquiries by the author by examining the ‘illusion of knowing’ within a context of children as designers within the English education system. The paper seeks to challenge the under-theorized notion of children as designers and argues that the curriculum is idealistically predicated upon a concept of robust knowledge, consistent decision making and reliable thinking when in fact it may be more fruitful to be developed on the basis of cognitive limitations and a ‘curriculum of unknowing’
