Abstract
This first volume is a complete revision of my previous metrical English translation of Book 1 of the great 13th Century mystical poet Rumi's magnum opus, The Masnavi, in a much expanded book that includes an edition and critical apparatus of the Persian text from the oldest manuscripts, complete with a new author's Introduction, analytical index of stories and discourses, and revised explanatory notes.
