Abstract

This blog highlights the inexact science of training teachers in their safeguarding responsibilities under the Prevent duty [2015]. It highlights how teacher decision making my be informed by training, fears and personal prejudice, unconscious or otherwise. It calls for a greater role for equality and diversity training for teachers in schools and colleges to better inform decision making around Prevent referrals.
