Abstract

Having considered the different routes through which deprivations were addressed by local processes in the eight case studies in Chapter 10, this chapter considers the role of different kinds of organization – from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and city and municipal government to national agencies and international donors. The chapter ends with a discussion of the links between urban poverty reduction, local institutional capacity and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
