Abstract

Consultation theory contains a wealth of useful suggestions but it can seem overwhelming to the novice. The Rule of Thirds describes a consistent consultation scaffold, which aids the teaching of respected consultation models and facilitates formation of individual consultation style. It is useful for medical students and trainees, particularly GP Specialty Trainees.
