Abstract

Chapter 2.2 continues the digital product development journey with a focus on digital fashion product creation. The chapter starts with an overview of traditional new product creation (NPD) processes to provide the background to the current context of a rapid shift to digital product creation (DPC). Pattern construction techniques are illustrated to demonstrate the advantages of the parametric approach to improve garment fit and support the creation of customisable garments at scale. The process of digital fit evaluation and digital workflows are described. Opportunities to produce customised and made-to-measure fashion products are explored.
