Abstract
The eight Global Economic History Network (GEHN) meeting took place in Pune, India on 18-20 December 2005. The second conference in the GEHN series under the theme "Textiles and the World Economy, 1500-1820", the event was aimed at bringing together a number of distinguished economic historians specializing in different geographic areas. Throughout the conference, historians from institutions across the world discussed the impact of European and South Asian commercial and cultural encounter as well as the role of intra-Asian textile trade.
