Trade unions and stress at work: The evolving responses and politics of health and safety strategies in the case of the United Kingdom

This chapter draw on the evolution of health and safety discourse within trade unions, and the general underpinnings of an increasing engagement with the question of stress and mental health. It focuses on the way trade unions in the UK have developed strategies in relation to the state, employers, workers and social movements/NGOs. It outlines the innovative ways trade unions have engaged with the question of health and safety and the new challenges that have emerged from the politics of stress at work and the increasingly problematic political context.
