    Abstract

Microalgae are diverse microorganisms that are of interest as novel sources of metabolites for various industrial, nutritional, and pharmaceutical applications. Recent studies have demonstrated transcriptional engineering of some metabolic pathways. Here we propose that transcriptional engineering could be a viable means to manipulate the biosynthesis of specific high-value metabolic products.
