Abstract

This Human Development Report for Greater Manchester is a first of its kind in the UK. For that the University of Manchester team producing the report led by Professor Jill Rubery need to be commended. It focuses on people’s
lives and seeks to dig into the structural and other related factors that enhance or hinder their progress. It represents an innovative take on addressing concerns over a life cycle or life course and identifying those specific transitions over a life course which are critical in shaping people’s life capabilities.
