    Abstract

    Crystals of the title compd. are orthorhombic, space group P212121, with a 7.1159(6), b 10.7627(11), c 12.1055(10) .ANG.; Z = 4, dc = 1.781; R = 0.056. Rw(F2) = 0.097 for 2071 reflections. It adopts a classic piano-stool structure, with the Cr(CO)3 tripod assuming a syn-eclipsed conformation relative to the arene ring (j = 2.0 Deg). The extended structure is dominated by intermol. p...H interactions (H...ring centroid 2.94 .ANG.) and nonclassical H bonds between carbonyl and arene moieties (O...H 2.50-2.58 .ANG.).
