Abstract

The purpose of this Report is to provide general policy recommendations from the four city studies undertaken for the research project 'Understanding the Tipping Point of Urban Conflict: Violence, Cities, and Poverty Reduction in the Development World' (UTP), carried out by the University of Manchester in collaboration with partner institutions in Kenya, India, Chile and Switzerland. This report summarises the background to the project, its objectives, conceptual framework, rationale for case study selection, and methodology. It then discusses the key findings by city, before turning to comparative policy recommendations. See http://www.urbantippingpoint.org
