Abstract
Research and discourse around security covers a diverse range of topics focusing on protecting “people and their assets in particular from mal-intended actions” (Gill 2014: 981), such as crime prevention, management of security, and even discussion about ethics and critiques of security (Gill 2014). In this chapter, we wish to draw attention to perceived security—the extent to which people interpret a particular situation as secure or insecure.
