Abstract

This paper describes a case study concerning the application of simulation to manufacturing capacity planning. Visual interactive models were developed and used to investigate the manufacturing strategy for a particular organization. However, there are several practical difficulties which may arise in using these techniques to support managerial decisions. One of these concerns the meaning of the term 'manufacturing capacity'. This problem was overcome by using a visual interactive version of an established procedure to complement the use of a simulation model.
