    Abstract

    The free vibration of a fluid/structure system consisting of a cylindrical blockage submerged in a fluid enclosed by a cylindrical shell is investigated. The wavenumbers are obtained and the reflection and transmission of acoustics waves at the boundary of the blockage are investigated. Theoretical reflection and transmission ratios are obtained in the axisymmetric mode, as functions of frequency and observation location. The blockage size and length are found to be important factors influencing the wave reflection and transmission characteristics. Keywords: fluid/structure coupling system; reflection and transmission characteristics;
