Abstract

In this resource, we (the RMTC Hub) outline important Ways of Working as we seek to operationalise the responsibilities, roles and practices delineated for us in the project documentation. Our major suggestion – i.e. using an extended version of Exploratory Practice (EP) as the framing methodology for what we term the Researching RM-ly practice strand of the overall project – has been adopted since that documentation was submitted to the AHRC; the other ways discussed here – i.e. Reflective Practice (RP) and Narrative Inquiry (NI) – formed part of the methods menu listed in the bid. Taken together (and as enriched by other methodologies), we hope that these Ways of Working will usefully contribute to the developing relationships - between, on the one hand, the RMTC Hub and, on the other, the Case Study teams and the CATC Hub team - as the whole project team collaborate on this Researching RM-ly practice strand. To this end, below, we first rehearse the RMTC Hub remit (Section 2) and then introduce and exemplify the central process, i.e. this extended use of EP (Sections 3-4). We then present and illustrate both RP and NI (Sections 5-8) before concluding with some reflections on issues arising from initial discussions of these Ways of Working within the full project team (Section 9).
