SIR,-In legionellosis the severe headache, abnormal mental
states, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, haematuria, and a raised creatine
kinase are poorly understood. Reaction to the cell wall
tipopolysaccharide found in Legionella pneumophila might account
for part of the clinical picture.
