Abstract
The modification of the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface with a zeolite membrane is studied. The application of a potential difference across the modified interface allows the selective transfer of ionic species on the basis of the applied interface potential difference and the dimensions of the transferring ion with respect to those of the zeolite pores. The complete exclusion of certain ions from microporous materials at the liquid|liquid interface can be achieved, with the size of transferring species as the crucial parameter.
