Children of parents with psychosis are more likely to have emotional and behavioural problems, and problems with relationships. Emotional Overinvolvement (EOI) is a way of measuring how a parent or caregiver thinks and feels about their child. In adulthood it has been shown that EOI can be related to mental health difficulties. The aim of this thesis was to review existing research on how EOI could relate to social and emotional problems in children, and to explore whether the way in which EOI influences children is similar in families of parents who have a psychosis diagnosis compared with parents without a psychosis diagnosis.
